MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The State of Connecticut has declared a state of emergency as the Hurricane Sandy “Frankenstorm” approaches.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed the declaration of emergency late Saturday morning.
The order allows the governor to suspend state statutes and regulations, order civil preparedness forces into action, and designate vehicular and person routes.
“The forecast path of Hurricane Sandy has convinced me that the signing of this declaration is necessary, and will help us react more quickly and effectively in the event of a serious weather event,” Malloy said in a news release.
